Nobel laureate. Teacher. Activist. Adventurer. Passionate advocate for the responsible use of science in preserving our environment and protecting our planet. Chairman of the Union of Concerned Scientists board of directors for more than 25 years. Henry Kendall was all of these things.
From the organization's origins as a small group of dedicated scientists to its current position of national importance, Dr. Kendall led UCS with the firm conviction that the collective power of scientists and citizens could make a great change to humanity's stewardship of Earth.
To honor this extraordinary legacy, UCS established the Henry Kendall Society in 1999. Members of the Society, through their annual contributions of $1,000 or more, provide a strong foundation for the organization. This support amplifies our independent voice and ensures our ability to work toward real change—now, and for generations to come.
