"18 months and 42,000 trouble free miles later I'm still in love with this car"
I started tracking hybrid technology when they first came out, but held off purchasing until release of the second generation Prius, which suited my diverse lifestyle perfectly while helping me offset my personal environmental footprint from commuting 35 miles to work plus many more miles for work and play.
18 months and 42,000 trouble free miles later I'm still in love with this car. I've slept in it (the seats fold flat), braved blizzards through rugged West Virginia terrain, and carried loads ranging from a table saw to my raft and kayak, which fit inside nicely. And my driving style has changed dramatically. Once a speed demon, I now drive for 'high score', much more sedately, trying to maximize mpg through careful attention to all the wonderful instrumentation, reaping the fringe benefit of getting me to my destination safely and more relaxed. My best tank to date was 712 miles at 66 mpg. I hope to beat that this summer!
Whether for the fuel economy, technology, environmental benefits or all three, this is a great car for a wide range of interests. I expect many years of happy hybriding to come.
